Well - I never made my own paint ... always bought it. Studying the book "Farbpigment, Farbstoffe, Farbgeschichten" which is all about pigments and reading about Pfirsichkernschwarz (peach pit black), Traubenkernschwarz (grape seed black) and Kirschkernschwarz (cherry pit black). There is so much more to try. What a great book ... love it.
Spend several hours cleaning and re-arranging my studio. It is ready now for creating and presenting. During summertime next year I will paint the floor in a clean white color. Most of my artwork survived the transport from Detroit to Stadecken-Elsheim without any damage - some of it needs a little repair though.
These apples here in Germany taste so much better than Michigan apples. Especially the "Red Boskoop"...yummie. Even better than "Honey Crisp" apples. Guess what - the first piece of artwork I started back in Germany is all about apples!

My next exhibition is coming soon - the opening will be on 23NOV12 in Essenheim, Germany. I am excited ... and very busy with the preparation, Remember we moved to Germany just two weeks ago? Well, our container including furniture, artwork and supply materials is still in New York - ready for a 3 weeks shipping to Germany. "Sandy" caused a delay. The contanier won't arrive until mid of December. It is a challenge, but I'll make it. Wish me luck.....
Just recently we have travelled to Indianapolis to see the famous Miller House. Love it, love it, love it.
"America’s Most Significant Modernist House"
Commissioned by industrialist and philanthropist J. Irwin Miller and his wife Xenia Simons Miller in 1953, Miller House expands upon an architectural tradition developed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe—epitomizing the international Modernist aesthetic—with an open and flowing layout, flat roof and stone and glass walls. The rooms, configured beneath a grid pattern of skylights supported by cruciform steel columns, are filled with textiles that feature strong colors and playful patterns. Amid the residence’s large geometric gardens, its grandest feature is an allée of honey locust trees that runs along the west side of the house. In 2000, the Miller House became the first National Historic Landmark to receive its designation while one of its designers, Dan Kiley, was still living and while still occupied by its original owners. The house showcases the work of leading 20th-century architects and designers: Eero Saarinen, Alexander Girard and Dan Kiley.
Today, the property offers visitors the opportunity to experience one of the finest expressions of American modernism, an integration of house and landscape that draws upon historical precedents without repeating them, enfolding them in a compelling composition of forms and spaces that captures the genius of its designers, the aspirations of its owners, and the spirit of their time.
This is the last piece which I finished before going back to Germany. It belongs to the Detroit / Michgan Series. Hope it doesn't get damaged when the movers get it ready for the container.

My time in Michigan is coming to an end. Just as planned we will move back to Germany in October 2012, November 2012 in Germany will start for me with two art exibitions.
My artwork will be shipped in a container. There are some pieces where I have major concerns regarding transport --- these pieces may be damaged as they are not that easy to move in a container. I am selling these pieces for a special price now (check the "Special Offer" in my homepage for details) - please contact me if you are interested, email: email@example.com
Looking forward to go back to Germany now - I haven't been there for 2 years now and start to miss home. As soon as I am back in Germany I will miss the US - I guess I am kind of inbetween now! It is a small world, that is for sure. When I came to Michigan it was amazing how many people I already new. Have been lucky to have the chance to spend some time in the BBAC (Birmingham / Bloomfield Art Center) and took some very useful classes. Maybe one day I'll start something similar in Germany. Thanks for the opportunity to present my artwork in multiple exhibitions and to meet great people!
Sneak Preview. Have a look at my California series for the Aquatic Art Show - how do you like it?
1 - NO GREEN WETSUIT
2 - THE BRIDGE
3 - SURFING
4 - DESIGN A BETTER SAN FRANCISCO
Had the chance to visit the Frederik Meijer Sculpture Park last weekend. Wow. A significant sculpture collection presented in a beautiful outdoor environment. They currently have a temporary sculpture exibition - Beverly Pepper with metal sculptures. Never heard about her before, but she definitely caught my attention.
The Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park is located in Michigan, Grand Rapids, near Lake Michigan.
The California series for the upcoming AQUATIC show is finished. Made it on time! The pieces are so much summer feeling - water, surfing, California, San Francisco...and a shark. Added a new high gloss film, which makes the pieces look as if covered with a thin layer of glass.
I receive a lot of questions on how my paper maché sculptures are made. Working on a photo documentation to show you.
The Aquatic art exhibition in the GM Design Center Art Gallery is starting on 13SEP12. Entries are due on 31AUG12. I have finished 2 pieces out of a series of 6 California collages which I am planning to show. Need to hurry up now to finalize the remaining 4 pieces. Cannot stop starring at the California series ---- the pieces have so much summer feeling. Amazing...
